Colorow Care Center --JUNE 2010

Our own Josephine Feinauer, Colorow elder, was a professional artist and still loves to do water color.  She has begun an art class with the other elders of Colorow called “Capture the Beauty” and it is held once per week beginning March 11, 2010.  Jo works with them on drawing, design, choosing a picture and water color painting.

Elder Gwen Meyer lets us see her beautifully designed mask for Colorow’s annual Fat Tuesday, Mardi Gras celebration.  The party took place on February 16, 2010. The event was planned and coordinated by our own elder, Gwen Meyer (who is also a native of New Orleans) and our transportation coordinator Karen Taylor.

Elder Bob Sherman is one of Colorow’s big fans of Olathe High School’s varsity girls basketball team called the “Lady Pirates”.  Bob attends every basketball event and is their biggest sports fan!  The Lady Pirates were undefeated going into state and placed third at state.  The Lady Pirates call Bob their good luck charm!

Colorow’s Social Services Director, Barb Rardin leads Colorows annual “Have-A-Heart” event to raise money for the elders to have more Mother Earth Pillows as well as for the community.  This year half of the community proceeds went to the Community Options Program that assists some of the Colorow elders who have developmental disabilities.
