
VOTING AT NORTH STAR
The voter registration group came
to North Star and brought the ballots for the residents and helped them fill them out properly so
that their voice was heard. New residents were helped to change their addresses and get
registered to vote at the proper address. We had a great turnout with resident’s voting.

TRANSFORMATION OF DINING AREA AT NORTH STAR
The dining room get new paint colors that the food committe had choosen and warm wooden flooring was installed. It transformed the Dining area.


HALLOWEEN PARTY WITH MT VINCENT
It was a spooky good time for all the Boys and Staff from Mt. Vincent Home. A haunted house was set up in the Galaxy room and there were lots of candy and games. A fun time was had by all!

BEAUTY TREATMENTS
Mary Kay came to visit and gave residents facials and satin hand treatments. This made the residents not only feel beautiful but look beautiful.

GRANDPARENTS DAY PARTY
Boys from Mt St Vincent Home came to host an ice cream sundae party with the residents. They played games after the ice cream social. The kids and the residents both enjoyed each others company.


GETTING READY FOR SCHOOL
The residents wanted to make the first day of school special for
the boys who visit from Mt St Vincent. They got together and provided backpacks full of
supplies for school. The boys were quite touched and excited to have their own backpacks and
supplies.


NORTH STAR COMMUNITY CELEBRATES WORKFORCE SATISFACTION AWARD
The resident community members were proud of their care partners and made posters for a staff
pizza party.
“The Main Event” was the My Innerview workforce satisfaction award.
Residents and staff also cheered for the Eden Seedling nomination for our home
and Shawn’s Eden Resident nomination.
Lots of pizza and soda and clapping!


Chili Cook-off Judges
CHILI COOK-OFF TO BENEFIT THE MS SOCIETY
North Star Community held its 2nd annual Chili Cook-off to benefit the MS Society! Marcia Brenowitz, the administrator, took home 1st place.


ART WITH A HEART ARTWORK
Resident Community Members made art to donate to Art with a Heart, a benefit and silent auction on April 21st to raise money for the MS Society.

Derick, from ElderConciergeServices, is holding a computer class with the residents.

North Star attended Disney on Ice. The residents had a great time and it looks like Goofy wore off a bit!

Valentine's Day at North Star Elvis serenaded our King and Queen at North Star Community's Valentine Day celebration. Ron and Laurie were crowned King and Queen Valentine. Ron and Laurie meet at North Star during an activity and have been an "item" ever since!
Piñata Fun. Customs and cultures were celebrated by the people who live and work at North Star Community during the recent National Nursing Home Week. Mexican heritage day included a tamale and chili potluck and piñata bashing. The piñatas were a great source of upper body exercise as well as lots of fun for everyone!
Celebrating Native American Culture. Appreciation for Native American culture was a part of Nursing Home Week festivities. The morning began with legends and making prayer flags. Lunch was mutton stew and fry bread. Less adventurous souls substituted the beef stew. In the afternoon, residents from neighboring ParkView Care Center joined staff and residents in the dining room for a drumming circle.
Vietnamese Cuisine. North Star is located in the area of west Denver where Hispanic and Asian cultures mingle. Friday was dedicated to appreciation of Asian culture and began with a presentation around customs, clothing and traditions. In the afternoon, staff and residents gathered to enjoy a sampling of Vietnamese appetizers brought in by a student intern spending time in her educational process at North Star.
