

WESTERN DAYS
We had “Western Days” this month filled with fun and games. A special thanks to Kaaren, one of our RNs, that came in on her day off to bring Freddy the horse for the residents to enjoy. Some of our neighbors decided to join the fun as well!


TAKE ME OUT TO THE BALL GAME
Residents at Valley View were in attendace at a recent ball game to cheer on the Sky Soxs at Security Field in Colorado Springs.


ENJOYING THE GREAT OUTDOORS. We went camping and fishing at the Cross D Bar Ranch in Westcliffe, we brought home 6 fish!

MUSIC IN THE PARK. We went and enjoyed music at Entertainment in the Park,

PICNICS AND GAMES. We had picnics and enjoyed the sunshine in our own front yard. Esther and Norma played ball outside in the Serenity Garden





CELEBRATIONS!
This past month has been full of celebrations at Valley View; we honored Crissie, one of our housekeeping team members who celebrated 30 years of service, we are so thankful to have her! We said goodbye to Debbie, our DON of 16 years, she will be greatly missed but we know she will do wonders at her new home. We also had a going away party for long time resident, Shirley, who is moving to another home. We will miss our friend and wish her good luck!



SUMMER CAMPING
A group of residents and staff at Valley View went camping at Prospectors campground just outside of Canon City. They went swimming, had a BBQ dinner at the campground for those that could not or did not want to stay over night, went on a nature walk/ scavenger hunt, and roasted marshmallows. Everyone can’t wait till they go again next month!


TRIP TO CRIPPLE CREEK
June has been a very busy month at Valley View. The “Recycling Group” traveled to Cripple Creek for a day of some fun and gambling using some of the money they have saved from recycling cans all year round.

CELEBRATING ST. PATRICK'S DAY WITH GREEN BEER AND PRETZELS
In the March, at Valley View, everyone had a blast! We celebrated St. Patrick’s Day with green beer and pretzels, colored Easter eggs, and got ready for Piñon’s Art with a Heart silent auction.

King and Queen of Valley View
In January the resident's at Valley View got together and decided to have a King and Queen for the February Valley Shack night in honor of Valentine's Day. They nominated each other and then voted to choose the winners. They really got into the spirit of it; one resident even handed out suckers asking for people's votes when they cast their ballots.

Join the Fun!
At Valley View our Wii bowling groups are very popular and fill up very fast. We usually have to play two tournaments with eight to sixteen people each game! The residents team up and are very good a giving tips and encouragement to each other.
A Picnic in the Park. A group of residents enjoy the nice weather at a local park after the annual National Nursing Home Week picnic.
Keep on Dancing! Bethany, from housekeeping, dances with Marilyn to the live music during a birthday party.
You Say Tomato. Joe waters the tomato plant he just planted in our new barrel garden. We can’t wait to enjoy the fruits and veggies of our labor!
