About Us

Piñon partners with regulatory and governmental agencies on receiverships, temporary management, state monitoring, project oversight, consulting and training. Pinon promotes a cooperative relationship with ombudsmen, fiscal agencies, housing authorizes and other government entities. Programs implemented by Piñon have been recognized by Colorado, New Mexico and Kansas ombudsmen and Departments of Health for their innovative approach to improving quality of life and care.

The New Mexico Department of Health hired Piñon to serve as operator of the state–owned Fort Bayard Medical Center in Silver City, New Mexico, in July 2008. Piñon was instrumental in restoring Medicaid funding to the previously decertified facility and providing a team of Piñon consultants to improve comprehensive operational systems and serve as interim leadership staff.

Piñon was hired by the State of Kansas in July 2008 to assist the Kansas Soldiers Home in obtaining Medicare certification and begin the process of OBRA survey readiness.

Piñon has worked with HUD and USDA properties in distress to restore and improve operations or assist in appropriate and timely closures of properties in receivership. Piñon holds the RFP consultative contract with the New Mexico Department of Health for ongoing support of homes with regulatory compliance issues as well as the RFP contract with the Colorado Department of Human Services as consultant to State and Veterans Nursing Homes.

In 2004, Piñon was hired by the New Mexico Cabinet Secretaries of Health and Long Term and Aging Services to provide consultation on Culture Change models and assist in establishing a New Mexico Coalition for Culture Change.

In December 2003, Piñon was hired by the State of Colorado Department of Human Services to assist in turning around their newly built State Veterans Home located at the Fitzsimons campus. Piñon Management was able to immediately place a Piñon leadership team in the facility and, in collaboration with the Colorado Department of Human Services, successfully regained regulatory compliance with the State, Federal and Veterans Administration.
